About
Heather Solos is a 31 year old professional blogger. She is the mother of 2 boys, a girl, and a stepdaughter. Heather was a professional chef in her former life, but left the restaurant industry during a complicated pregnancy.
She began blogging as a means to stay in contact with long distance friends and family. Initially a life blogger she soon found a vibrant community in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
After blogging for the Post and Courier, she co-founded Lowcountry Bloggers, a site dedicated to creating connections within a geographic community of bloggers. She also keeps a personal blog, Moncks Corner Moments. Even if it looks like she has it together, Heather strives to be honest about the frustrations, headaches, and joy that is found in everyday living.
Home-Ec 101 was originally created as a resource for the rising generations that never learned homekeeping from their busy, working parents. With Home Economics curriculum disappearing from schools, there is an audience hungry for the knowledge of homekeeping that has all but vanished from our culture. I don’t profess to know everything, but if I don’t know it, I will find the answer or ask our knowledgeable and wonderful community.
Home-Ec 101 was originally founded as a partnership between Heather Solos and Ivy Hogan.
Because of the volume of mail I receive, not all questions may be answered.
I do accept advertising for the site and will accept products for review.
Please note that all the reviews are completely honest and forthright. Home-Ec 101 is not owned by any company- any products I recommend come from personal usage and preference.
I absoutely love comments, it’s like finding money in the dryer. Please feel free to leave a comment! That is, as long as you’ve read the entire post. If I recommend, for example, Bob Smith’s Laundry Detergent Extravaganza and you comment something like “I disagree, I think the best method of cleaning this item is Bob Smith’s Laundry Detergent Extravaganza,” know that I will point and laugh at you. I reserve the right to delete any comment that is personally attacking, spam, pr0n, or anything else we hate. Or we might all just point and laugh.
This site is a labor of love- enjoy!
