Heather says:
The unoffical kick off to summer will soon be here. Are you ready for that first long weekend? Will it be a working vacation, a family trip, or just another weekend? If you are making plans for this holiday now is the time to start checking your list.
If you have yardwork on the agenda make sure your mower and other tools are in working order and ready to go. Nothing can sideline a project faster than discovering there is no gas or that a power tool needs repair. Ladies especially, do not be intimidated by tools, send us your questions, we will be glad to help. If you are counting on a spouse to do the heavy lifting, think of how appreciative they will be to not have to run to the gas station or hardware store. As a bonus, it eliminates many excuses.
Are you planning a backyard BBQ or picnic? If you have a gas grill check the propane. Otherwise, make sure you are stocked on charcoal and lighter fluid. Plan your menu and make your grocery lists.
Leaving town? Now is the time to make sure the car is running smoothly. Does the oil need changing? Check the fluid levels. How are the brakes? Doing these errands now will help ensure the trip goes as smoothly as possible.
Now is the time to take a quick peek in your first aid kit. You do have one, right? With warmer weather and more time spent outdoors, encounters with stinging and biting insects increase. Also, for those with kids, make sure you are prepared for all those bumps, bruises, and skinned knees that are the hallmark of summer.

Heather mentioned first aid kits in this post. What do you suggest you keep in a first aid kit, Heather? Oh, and don’t forget to have one in your car as well as in your home.
