Home-Ec101.com turns two today. It’s been a fun ride, over 500,000 visitors, 1020 posts, 7,583 comments, 3 designs, 2 authors, and one heck of an audience. Thank you for being a part of our adventure.
As human beings we spend much of our lives trying to live up to self-imposed ideals, we often fall short. It can be a relief to admit our faults and reassuring to see others struggle. The confessional is now open and don’t worry, I’ll go first.
I quit cloth diapering. I always hear about people who discover cloth diapering with their last child, well I’m the polar opposite. Yes, I still think it’s a great thing to do, I’m just burnt out.
I love a blistering hot shower, especially when the kids have worn me out. Twice this week I have locked all the dead bolts, popped in a movie, bribed the oldest to stay put for a few minutes, turned out the lights, and revelled in scalding bliss. I know it’s bad for my skin and the utility bill, but it’s so good for my sanity.
Next?

I'm so slow. Happy Birthday HE101! How exciting.
I burned out on cloth diapering, on number 3, too.
I used to have this sign on my bathroom door.. it said something like "I'm okay. No, I don't need your help. No, I don't want you to keep knocking. Sit right there. Just do it quietly." or something like that. I stored books in there.. and escaped often. They often sat, whined, cried, yelled, whatever, right outside the door.. and I let them. :)
Remember, I had locks on their doors. It really was to keep them out, more than IN.. to keep the room clean.. but try explaining that when someone see's the locks. *giggle*
My confession: My kitchen is trashed. Dishwasher is finally clean. Both sinks are full. Dishes all over. Two big pots of HM soup, HM red beans and rice, and a crock pot running with tonight's venison.. I'm just working around the mess, and cleaning the cutting board, now that I've run out of clear glass plates.. I have more plates.. I never chop on them. I don't know why. I hate it when my main dishwasher child is "sick." *expletive* *giggle*
Oh, and I haven't done any laundry, in a week. I think. Last laundry is still in the basket, in front of the dryer, needing to be folded. I bet there are wet clothes in the washing machine, too. I'll check the washer. The dry clothes can just sit there.
I have been productive.. it just doesn't show around here..
I swear I will upload those hockey game pics today, too.
