    Sunday Confessional

by Heather on September 14, 2008

    Heather says:

It’s Sunday once again and our household confessional is now open. In case anyone is wondering, I do have an alterior motive for this weekly feature.  Perfection simply isn’t an option. Yes, we should always strive to know better and do better, but it also wise to admit and laugh at our follies. It keeps life in a healthy perspective.

I’ll get the ball rolling. Due to packing, travelling, and getting back into our routine, it has been well over a month since my floors have seen a mop*.

    Yikes!

Don’t be shy, it’s time to ‘fess up.

I haven’t mopped or done any real cleaning like that since I moved in 5 years ago. Also, I have clutter all over my dining table that hasn’t been moved in over a year.

It’s just overwhelming when it gets to this point! And all my main living areas are clear of clutter, at least… :P

I got tagged! Didn’t think people even read my blog. But now I have tagged you.
    See http://generationsgoneby.wordpress.com/ for details.

Now you all know who I am.

Sometimes (most times) I’d rather clean than play with the kids. I can’t find the strength to play with one more Barbie but I can scrub out the sink with gusto.

    That is my confession.

    I overslept for Church…deliberately.
There I said it. I wanted a day off. It’s going to rain and I just want to goof off and not get up and have to get dressed up and fix my hair and etc.

So I overslept. Hubby really was sick and he didn’t get up. I just pretended to be asleep because I wanted to have the day off.

I don’t do that often on Sundays, but now I have confessed it. It’s 11 am and I am still not out of bed. I am surfing the internet and being a slug.
Tomorrow I will be responsible again.

    I hate to dust, so I don’t.

I, personally, might dust maybe 3 times a year.

If the house does get dusted more than that, it is because I make my kids do it.

My children are responsible for cleaning their own bathroom. It’s cleaner than mine.

    Scarlett,
Me too! I think I am fighting a bug. LOL It’s so humid here today I feel like I have moved to the tropics. It’s finally raining, though that just made it more humid inside.
Now I am snuggled on the bed, surfing the internet without sheets. LOL I am so making progress, though not sure moving them from the bed to the UR floor is what most people would call progress. But the comforter is almost dry and my bathroom rugs are washing, so the sheets are the next load. Not bad for a goof off day.

I admit, I am a clean freak. I am totally mortified at you all who haven’t dusted in months. LOL Thing is, if I came to your house, I would not notice. But one single dust bunny at mine drives me crazy. I don’t judge though. I say clean it to the extent it makes you comfortable. I don’t clean for other people, I clean for me. And clean, and clean… ;) LOL

Now I hate cleaning the kitchen. I make the kids do it, and yes, Lisa, they do it far better than I do.

I refuse to admit when I last gave my 4 month old a true bath not just a wet wiped one.

Washing machine broke the Wednesday before Labor Day and, due to the warranty company, it wasn’t replaced until Friday, so I’ve just washed my sheets and towels for the first time since it broke! (Thank goodness I could get the darn thing to do “quick wash” for panties, socks and a few little things!)

I haven’t dusted in quite awhile either – I was just noticing the coffeetable as the sunlight was streaming onto it.

My confession is that sometimes I wear the same clothes for two days in a row. I can just hardly stand the thought of trying to pick out another outfit for the day, so I just put on yesterdays. Of course, this rarely happens when it’s 100 degrees outside lol

I pretended to be busy “cleaning” the kitchen while husband vacuumed. I then ignored his statement about how the kitchen floor needed to be mopped.

OMG, your confessions are so funny and so true. I just sat there nodding. My floor (whole house actually) really needs a good cleaning. I may have to buy SimpleMom’s ebook about spring cleaning anytime. Have a great week. Maureen

My Mom has been here for a month helping me with my two little ones and my 11 year old (which btw is as much work as the two little ones). She has helped me a bunch and is willing to do anything, so I have let a lot go around here. Stuff is piled everywhere and my bedroom looks like a hermit cave. My Mom leaves tomorrow and my husband comes back Friday, so I need to start cleaning up ASAP.
