Sunday Confessional 10/4

I made a pie last night-first time to try the recipe so I expected a few glitches.....I guess the pie needed a deep dish shell because when I put it in the oven to bake even though I held some of the topping out because I could see it was going to be filled too full most of the topping came right off! UGH (sweet potato pecan pie--basicly a double layer pie with sweet potato on bottom and pecan pie topping-but I'm allergic to pecans so I used almonds)--other than having a messy cookie sheet to clean this morning (soo glad I put that pie in to bake with a cookie sheet LOL-I would NOT have been happy if I would have had to clean the oven!)--the pie tasted good--just looked a little "funny" LOL

I'm horrible when it comes to cleaning house, which is how I found you. I try so hard, but in then end, I'm just plain lazy. In the past week I cleaned the living room. However, I cook nearly every night and i did 2 loads of dishes and 1 load of laundry yesterday. My husband did everything else.

In April I started laying ceramic tile in a corner of our basement, for a few reasons. We always planned to have a canning kitchen there. I've never done ceramic tile (or much of anything that will be needed) so it's a good practice run. (Then maybe I put in a real kitchen on the first floor, with floors and cupboards and a stove, and everything) Also, I got the tile very cheap. Lastly -- hey, it's the basement - so what if it turns out not so good? I'll learn from it. It's a lot harder than I'd thought it would be, and I still haven't gotten to the parts where I have to cut any tiles yet.

So, now it's October, and I have less than half of the tiles laid. Lots of reasons, including really bad knees and some back problems, and lots of other things going on, but mostly just....haven't gotten back around to making myself do it.

Well, for me it's more about other parts of life. I threw a little family party last night for my son and my husband--their birthdays are less than a week apart. However, I had alotted just so much time, not quite enough, to get ready for the guests yesterday during my son's nap. But he didn't take a nap. Instead, he threw a ginormous tantrum. He hasn't thrown many in his two years, but he picked birthday day to have one. So that sucked up all of my getting ready time and I was frantically trying to pull it together when people arrived (after totally giving up on the nap for him). So dinner was ready about an hour late. Then today I had, again, planned to finally get some class prep and grading done during his nap, and he threw another huge tantrum. Yikes. I just gave up again and let my husband take him outside to do something fun. I know he's tired so it bugs the crap out of me that he won't just relax and go to sleep. Now he's going to be all amped up with Daddy. Alas. That's my weekend, and no schoolwork is likely to get done because they'll be back soon for another try at this nap.

Have a blog deadline for copy proofing today. Behind on my Twitter contacts and emails. I have a new blog that was supposed to be published on Friday and it looks like it's going to be another couple of days. My Twitter branding is behind too... I'm going to enjoy some lemonade an sit on the deck for awhile.

I forgot to run the dishwasher last nite...so I ran it first thing this morning. That's not the bad part....I goaded my MOM into emptying it for me. But hey, I'm 7 months pregnant...I figure I have at LEAST one "get outta jail free" cards. Why do I STILL feel like a horse's ASS??? :(

Who cares what your kids had for dinner as long as they don't go hungry. They will remember the trip to the zoo for years but not what they had for dinner that night. I am disabled, retired with a retired husband, no children. Life still gets in the way for us all the time. My husband always says who cares, it's just us so lets just live like we want to. We were supposed to work in the yard today but it is cloudy and my ambition flew out the window. I pulled one of my emergency dinners out of the freeze and that is what we are having tonight. Just live life to the fullest, the house and laundry can wait for a whilel. Life is just toooooo short.

Good luck at the casting call. I think you'd be perfect for a cooking show.

I did not run the dishwasher for 3 days... I have now ran it twice in the last 12 hours.

Last night was the first night I made supper for the whole family since Monday, my husband is gone weird hours and I hate cooking big suppers that the kids will not eat, so I feed them what I have on hand.

oooh can't wait to hear about the adventures with the cooking show auditions/or whatever LOL--that sounds like amazing fun! some things I need to work on around the house is to do some sort of housework everyday-that's gotten to be something I've let slide lately and then rush to catch it all up on the weekends.I need to get the laundry put away quicker instead of letting it sit till I make the time to put it away.

Not really a fearless friday LOL but sunday morning I made hommade "hash"-hubby doesn't think a meal is complete without ,meat so this morning I took some chicken-apple sausage and processed it till it was bite size (way too lazy to bring out the big knives this morning LOL)-fried it in a little olive oil with a few diced hashbrown potatoes and it was a hit.I am NEVER buying store bought "hash" again.YUM!
