If you’re going to be outside doing yardwork or something, or are at least somewhere where you don’t care much what you look like, wet a bandanna and tie it around your hair (kinda like a doo-rag). The evaporation of the water does wonders for keeping you cool.

Also, put your heels in a bowl of ice water. It sounds crazy, but it works.

The greatest improvement ever for a shady deck is having your handyman install a ceiling fan. (Obviously I have a roof overhang so it was possible.)

To pull a cord and produce a needed breeze in August is awesome.

I’ve been filling up J’s wading pool and just plunking myself down in it to keep cool. I’d go to the community pool, but the water is as warm as bathwater so it doesn’t do any good.
