Quick frugal tip

May 17th, 2007 by Heather

Heather says:

Have you ever wondered what to do with that last cup of coffee?

OK, me neither, but I have brewed extra especially for this purpose. Rather than letting it sit on the hot plate and perfume the house with an aroma of burnt coffee, immediately pour the extra into a clean ice cube tray. Once frozen, pop the cubes out and into a freezer bag.  Use these to flavor smoothies, making high octane frozen drinks, or simply to cool your coffee when you just can’t wait for the first sip.

  • I love, love, love to put the extra in a mason jar in the fridge and then have a nice coffee on ice later in the day. You can also use it to mix in with hot cocoa and make a cocoa latte or add it to chocolate cake batter, which makes it taste heavenly!

I am the only one who drinks coffee so I bought a french press coffee mug and now I don’t have any extra coffee leftover. I get too hyped up if I have too much of that stuff! :)

  • you should add an option to email a tip to a friend cuz i’d totally share this one (yes i’m too lazy to cut paste and email individually i want a button damnit!)

  • What a fantastic idea! I freeze just about everything, and never even considered freezing coffee to use later! You bet I’ll be doing this tomorrow morning!
