We usually have either Cottage Pie or Shepherd's Pie once a week. (Sometimes difficult to find ground lamb locally here in Moncks Corner.) The leftovers are wonderful for lunch the next day. This week it will be a Cottage Pie. I recently learned how to make Cornish Pasties (at my husband's request - he misses them!) http://bit.ly/8xYKRs and I have a question. The recipe uses rutabaga (called "Swede" in the UK) which I do not care for but it's essential to a Cornish Pastie. Q: Can whole [or raw, diced] rutabaga be frozen? Never having cooked with rutabaga before, I know nothing about them. If I can get down to Publix and buy some lamb chops, I want to try what is called a Lancashire Hotpot which is basically lamb chops (2 per person), sliced onion, sliced potatoes, and salt & pepper layered in a heavy, cast-iron/enamel covered casserole (and a coffee cup, oops I mean tea cup, of water) and baked for 2 hours. We don't get home from work until 5:10pm but sometimes I'll prepare a casserole ahead of time and my best friend 2 doors down (who works from home) will come down mid-afternoon, take it out of the fridge, and pop it into the oven for me.

My husband is British. I put it in pint freezer jars and microwave it to heat, after its thawed. http://familyhugzrecipes.withaz.net/?p=128 I, also, just recently, froze chili mac, without cheese. After it thawed, I stirred in shredded cheese and microwaved it. I don't, usually, microwave, but I have a bad back, and I've been cheating, lately. Good luck with your surgery. ~Heidi

I've had some success, lately, with Stuffed Bell Pepper soup.. very rich and cooks down, over low temp, for hours, in a stock pot.. thickens like chili. I truly hope that I am not out of place to ask for some advice. I am about to go thro surgery for cancer and Doc says I wont be able to much for 2-3 weeks. I always cook from scratch and I am looking for some "t.v." dinner ideas. I have done the meatloaf and mash, turkey and mash, soup, spagetti and I am not in the mood for the sameold when I come home this time. Does anyone have any ideas for something new that I can make to serve 1, I dont have a problem with bulk cooking. It just needs to be freezer and micro friendly. Thank you so much! If Heather doesnt want this to clog up her group, with her permission of course, my e-mail is purpleangel3686@yahoo.com Thank you Heather if you allow this!

Hello Heather and group!
