    Menu Monday 11/16

by Heather on November 16, 2009

    Heather says:

It’s a shop from the fridge and pantry kind of week. I have a bunch of potatoes that need to be used up. I’ll round everything out with fresh produce.

    • Monday – Loaded baked potato soup, spinach salad
    • Tuesday – Trying out recipes from the BBC – pan grilled sirloin, yorkshire pudding, buttered cabbage, potatoes gratin
    • Wednesday – C.O.R.N.
    • Thursday –  Company Spaghetti with meat sauce, 7 layer salad, garlic bread
    • Friday – Pan fried catfish, cheese grits, steamed vegetables
    • Saturday – Homemade pizza night (pizza crust recipe / pizza sauce recipe )
    • Sunday – Beef shoulder roast in red wine, pan roasted vegetables, cheesy broccoli rice casserole

Tell me, what’s on your menu this week? Are you trying anything new.  Are there any seasonal items you’ve been waiting to add to your menu? Feel free to share or link to your own menu plan in the comments.

How do you do your potatoes au gratin, Heather? I don't recall running across a recipe on here…I did find one a couple of months back that I was thinking of trying…think it was called Walnut Sage Potatoes Au Gratin….been wanting to try it….but I'm LAZZZZZY! LOL

I really haven't made them. My only experience growing up was with what we always called All Rotten Potatoes, you know those dehydrated potato discs in fake cheese? So, this recipe is definitely a new direction for me. I'm using the one behind the link in Tuesday's entry.

Yea, we USED to make those pre-packaged taters too…and we loved them…but for some unknown reason, they contain wheat and/or gluten…(I can't remember which). I thought that was just kinda odd….but oh well, I'm just gonna keep truckin. :)

I've got my menu up on my Zombie Mommy blog. It's finally getting chilly down here, so I'm doing chicken and dumplings this week.

I love chicken and dumplings. Are you of the rolled or dropped camp? I'm a traitor and vary which version I do depending on my mood at the time.

I always do dropped dumplings. And none of that canned biscuit stuff, either. It's so much easier to make them myself, plus I don't have to worry about all the preservatives.

That's hilarious! If my stepdaughter were in town right now, I'd steal that idea in a heartbeat. Have you seen the Twilight parody Nightlight? They have an excerpt online if you google it. I was ROLLING.

I love that I can come to your site to see what I'll be having for dinner Thursday. Can't wait to see you and my godmonkeys. :-)

Monday and Tuesday: Cheeseburgers (homemade, yum yum!)
Wednesday: Probably another cheeseburger, I've still got one patty in the fridge and plenty of buns. Plus a salad.
Thursday: Um, Ramen? Or a Chinese beef and zucchini leftover that I have lurking in the freezer…
    Friday: Pizza. And salad.
Saturday: My roommates and I are having a Thanksgiving dinner here, so I'm expecting that… Otherwise more pizza. And salad.
Sunday: I'm gonna guess leftovers, even though that's not what I originally had planned.
