I recently got a ton of vintage crafting magazines that my grandmother had owned. One set of magazines was called “Stitch N Sew” and it had a feature called “The Pins And Needles Sewing Club”. Women would post messages about themselves, include their addresses, and they would exchange recipes, patterns, and they would send letters back and forth and talk to each other about homemaking.

My first thought about that was how dangerous it is to have your address posted in a national magazine- but this was the sixties, I suppose it was a simpler time. My next thought was that we are very lucky to live in a digital age where we can meet each other and talk almost instantly through message boards, blogs, and groups.

Heather and I have been talking about a way that we can all get together like this and have finally come up with the answer- a Google Group. This way we can meet up via email and talk about all things domestic. We can meet other people who can be our accountability partners and help us through tough spots. We can exchange recipes and patterns and frugal ideas. And the best part is, it’s totally interactive, so instead of us feeding you what we want, you can all participate equally.

The group’s membership is moderated, you have to be approved before joining. This is to keep spammers and other unsavory types out of the group. Here is the link to apply to join. Don’t worry, our basic requirement to join is that you’re not a spammer. In the text box after clicking to apply to join, just type, “I promise I’m not a spammer or any other unsavory type” so we know you’re cool. :)

Can’t wait to see you there!
