It’s hot and you need a pool

by Badbadivy on August 8, 2007

    retrochick.JPGIvy says:

It’s HOT! As I type this, it’s 100 degrees, and it’s 7:11 PM. You shall be reading this sometime in the future, but it’s forecasted to still be miserably hot, so this lemonade slush recipe should still be appropos.

So let’s stop with the witty banter and just get to the recipe, it’s too hot to mess around:

    Mr. Ivy’s* Lemonade Slush

    1 cup white sugar
    4 cups ice cubes
    2 cups of water
    7 lemons

Juice all 7 of the lemons, but keep the lemon halves for later. Put sugar, lemon juice, water, and ice into blender. Blend until smooth. You can make little “lemon umbrellas” for the drinks by poking a hole in the center of the lemon rind with a sharp knife (be careful!)  and pushing a straw through. (My kids love drinks with umbrellas.)

    Enjoy!

*That’s right, I said Mr. Ivy’s. Because Mr. Ivy is a bar manager and has all the good drink recipes.

Sounds great…if only my blender wasn’t broken. Drat!

If you want to do a whole “cool” theme….tray You can make palm trees out of large green peppers hollowed out…sliced part way up and placed on the narrow end of a carrot….standing up and anchored in a 1/2 cantelope filled with strawberries or pinapples. My grandaughter had an island theme party…..8 little eight year olds pretending it was summer…..on a cold March day in Indiana…..very sweet
