First, I’ll apologize to everyone with preschoolers who now has a song stuck in their heads.
There is no need to wait until you have been suckered into bringing something to a pot luck or picnic to make an appetizing fruit salad. With the recent heat wave, I thought a cool fruit salad might be a nice treat.

Take whatever you have on hand, cut into bite-size pieces. Stir in a binder like yogurt or pudding and refrigerate to allow the flavors to mingle.
Today’s recipe:
- 2 bananas
- 1 cup watermelon
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1 cup grapes
- ~ 1/3 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup vanilla pudding
Stir, cover, refrigerate. The hardest part… waiting until AFTER lunch to serve.
What do you like in you fruit salad?

Yum. Shredded coconut and crushed pecans.
My aunt made one that I love: along with whatever fruit on hand, she puts in mango. Then she mixes it all with the juice of one lime lightly sweetened with sugar. The flavor just pops!
i usually squeeze an orange over it, probably has a similar effect as the lime. i also prefer some kiwi in it, when i have it.
another Margo. interesting.
I like fruit salad, and I really like chicken salad with fruit cut up in it! Don’t you guys have a good chicken salad recipe? Should I check the archives?
Apples, oranges (plus extra juice), peaches (canned, with the syrup), bananas, grapes, kiwis, plums, strawberries. That is a typical summer Argentine fruit salad.
peaches (or nectarines)
plums
blueberries
strawberries
raspberries
cantaloupe
honeydew
and wine (best part)
for kiddos, simple syrup and
a splash of white grape juice
gets things goings.
Candied Bacon?! I did not know bacon could be made even better than it already is. Oh, joy, joy, joy. This is a happy day. Now I’d better buy some stretchy waist pants:)We will be eating candied bacon on EVERYTHING.
