OK, I am taking this in another direction (sorry about that), but since I already keep my sink spotless before retiring for the evening, and since you brought Turkey Day into the conversation, I am going to look for some help.

Have any tricks for getting "prepped" for Turkey Day any easier? I mean, we use dishes, chargers, silverware and goblets that typically only see the light of day here and a Xmas, so it becomes a chore as big as the meal itself to wash and polish everything. Any ideas on how to get through that mess?

in the effort to keep my kitchen sink 'empty', i have eliminated some dishes, there are only four of us so -- four plates, four bowls, four glasses (nice unbreakable polycarbonate ones) and well then i just couldn't part with half my mug collection so i'm putting 3/4's of it in storage ---- next to be weeded out will be the pots and pans and frying pans (i think there are about 16 - 20 of those - why i don't know!)

i wish i did have a 'nice' set of dishes though, maybe someday...

now i just have to do something with the tv dinner tray collection -- no we don't eat tv dinners, but we know someone who works for a company that makes them -- they gave us a pack of 100!!

The rest of my house can be disgustingly, filthily, dirty, but I absolutely cannot stand a dirty kitchen nor a dirty sink. I always clean up as I cook, and load the dishwasher right after the meal is over. I do not like preparing meals in even semi-filth, so I heartily agree with the FlyLady.

I find a clean sink is the source of great peace when I get into the kitchen every morning. On the rare mornings it isn't clean, I just take the 10 minutes and get it done .... I'll put the coffee on to brew and breeze through the dishes. THEN it's peaceful.
I'd agree with the sisters above who describe the feelings as "energized" and "relieved". It's like having my desk cleaned off when I start to work....... or walking into a clean living room after work -- it's calming, somehow.
I have been a Flybaby for 5 years and, oddly enough, enjoy all the emails, though, if I'm busy, I just delete them. I find the testimonials encouraging just like I do the comments here !

Been keeping mine clean for years, but lately because hubby bought a new one, and I keep hoping that somebody will get up in the middle of the night and install it. :)

But the last thing I have on my daily to do list is straighten the kitchen. That just means get it ready for morning so I can eat breakfast without last night's dinner staring at me. It helps that puppy can't have any thing to eat except his special food and he will eat off the floor or table if I don't clean before he comes in for the night.

I'll join you! I just finally cleaned out my sink after a couple of sick days and I feel reenergized! Okay, I confess, I don't have to be sick for the dishes to pile up! :D

I am a total FlyBaby in that respect. My sink is always clean before I go to bed. I can't get with all of her other stuff, but I can do the clean sink!

Agreed, no more dirty dishes left overnight. Seriously, I noticed that when I have cleaned the kitchen I feel relieved for some strange reason. Go figure ... :)

I want to be clear, I was just gently ribbing FLYlady. She seems like a genuinely nice person and has helped a lot of people get their homes and lives in order. Last I heard she was up to 500,000 subscribers. Can y'all imagine the ripple effect from that much effort?

But yeah, I won't do a shoe check. I *LIKE* to wear shoes, but I know lots of people hate them with unbridled passion that I normally reserve for dinnertime telemarketers who break the Do Not Call Regs :P
