    Cheap and easy: Summer Snack

by Heather on June 23, 2007

    Heather says:

Don’t feel like tackling a whole watermelon at once?  Cube it and toss in the freezer for a summer treat.  Some people go as far as inserting popsicle sticks for homemade fruit pops.  Me, I just toss it in a bowl and use a spoon.

Grapes and berries are also great frozen.  Just be careful to not give whole frozen grapes to young children and they are a choking hazard.   Take advantage of summer prices, spread washed and dried berries on a baking sheet, freeze, and then divide into individual servings and store in freezer bags.

Poke a popsicle stick into the middle of an individual serving size of yogurt (leaving the lid on) and place in the freezer. These make great healthy summer treats. Pam

Ohhhhhh, taking single berries or chunks of watermelon or any fruit and freezing them in ice trays to make colorful ice cubes makes a very pretty addition to summertime water, tea or lemonade, too.
