Okay, don’t laugh….

My husbands dream has always been to be an over-the-road truck driver. We got married and had a family very young (I had 4 kids before I turned 23, one from a previous marriage). We never had a chance to have the young-married lifestyle–you know, “just the two of us”–and we never felt like he could leave me to cope with all those kids for weeks at a time, so he went into another field.

We’ve decided to make the leap when our youngest graduates high school, 4 years from now. We are going on the road together (me only as a passenger, at least at first!). Trucking hasn’t always been my dream like it’s his, but the more we talk and plan and dream about it together, the more excited I get. We never had a honeymoon, so we call this our “Retirement-fund building extended first-not-second honeymoon”

Ah, the dreams… good topic. I can’t wait to read what your other commentors share!

My husband and I own 3 businesses. My husband works full time from home and I work outside the home full time at a very high stress corporate management job. Sounds fancy but trust me it’s not.

My dream is to build our businesses to the point that I can resign from the corporate jungle and work from home as my husband does. I love to read encouraging and inspiring stories of how other people did it. How wonderful to celebrate with them while we are still working towards this goal.

I think it’s absolutely okay to put your dreams on hold while you take care of the real world. After all, what kind of a half-assed dream is it anyway if a rough day blows it out of the water?

My dream was achieved….getting my book published “Creating Happy Memories”……available at Amazon.com. We gave the royalties to our local Center for the Homeless’s children programs for the first two years……sales have slowed but I keep plugging away…..it is a great gift for new parents, newlyweds, grandparents, teachers. It is hard not to get discouraged sometimes. God Bless, Pam

Dreams have a way of changing and evolving… right now it’s homeownership and FINALLY finishing a degree, although NOT in what I originally intended. The 18 year old me would have laughed her head off at the stupid notion of the 38 year old me getting a degree in Religion/History.
