I live in Chattanooga, just over Monteagle from you. Nashville is great… we were up there just a few weeks ago to see Celtic Woman in concert.

I love Chattanooga. It is big enough to always have something to do and small enough to get from place to place rather quickly. Plus, if you DO happen to run out things to do, there are plenty of other cities just a day trip away (Nashville, Atlanta, Knoxville, Huntsville). I grew up near Knoxville and have lived in Atlanta and Boston. But I keep coming back here. I came here to go to UTChattanooga and am just attached to the place. Family is only a day trip away. The winters are fairly mild… summers get sticky and humid but not as hot as other places… we have a river running right through town and a beautiful park on the bridge that crosses it that has no car traffic on it… plenty of places to hike and ride bikes… great places to canoe/kayak are a short drive away (Ocoee and Sequatchie and Hiawassee). And there are mountains everywhere. If I ever go anywhere where I can see more than 12 miles in any direction, I get dizzy…

I admire many other cities, but this has become my home.

There is not much I like in the town I live in. It is like some one took a suburb and tossed it into the prairie of SD. People are rude here, gas in more expensive, foods more expensive and the family we moved here to be closer to moved less then a year after we moved here. I am close enough to my family where I usually end up going back every month or so… this can also be a bad thing. I would rather go back for a week or two instead of just weekends here or there. We do have amazing wildlife here and sometimes seeing that makes all other things seem not so bad.

Another Tucsonan here… I love the mexican food I could live with out the 110 and 45% humidity today. But it only last a little while. Other than this time of year you can you be outside ALL the time. Probably 320 days a year its beautiful! I was born and raised here and there is so much awesome country around us its unbelievable. I also LOVE that you can go 4-6 hours in any direction and get a totally differant climate and enviroment. 4 hours north White Mountains, 6 hours west San Diego and Beach, 6 hours South Mexico and Beach, 4 hours east mountains of New Mexico. Love it!!

Queen Creek, Arizona. Suburban sprawl if ever there was. But I will tell you that I love my neighbors and the good folks that live here (we are all transplants, I think).

I don’t really like too much about the town, itself. It was all built in the last ten years and lacks the character of my Southern Virginina hometown.

I like that I can shop easily and this makes my business (those diaper cake thing a mobs I do) really a lot easier (I shop for each specific custom cake). I like that mail gets here pretty quick and gets to my destinations pretty quick. I like that I can go up in the mountains to go camping with my family. I like that we don’t have miserable winters (and the heat really IS a dry heat). I like that at least my husband’s family is close by so my girls have SOME grandparents they know (sigh….).

Oh, I get it. There are a lot of good things about St. Paul, MN, but I couldn’t see them for missing the South so badly.

In the winter, in my lovely Tampa, the sky is blue and cloudless and the temperature hovers around 72 degrees most days. I am so spoiled by this weather that when it dips below 65 I wear a wool coat. Below 60, there is a hat & gloves involved.

The summer is hot and miserable, but when I get hot and cranky I remember those beautiful “winter” days then go inside in the air conditioning to wait it out.

Fort Wayne IN — has one of the top library systems in the country!! — and it has the second largest collection for genealogy research in the country (the first being the mormon chruch)

our children’s zoo is excellent as well, we have a good park system, and a few small museums

lastly: it’s really cheap to live here

That website is great, Heather — we’ve had some out-of-town visitors and have used it to plan activities for them. That’s sort of the problem: South Bend is great to visit, but once you’ve seen it, there’s just not that much on-going, especially during the summer when the students are gone.

I shouldn’t have been quite so down on the place. Besides, we’re out of here in May. It doesn’t help my mood that this past week was COLD. Once summer shows up (the 3rd week of August) and football season is looming, I’ll like it again.

I love the history of my town. I live in a community rich in california gold mines. We have still a few active mines including the 16 to 1 mine. It definately makes for some interesting field trips! I love the fact that it is still a “small town” yet so close to the “big city”. I am about 50 miles east of Sacramento and almost eaqual in distance to Lake Tahoe. Its a beautiful place with a lot of wonderful places to go and things to see. I think that the only bad thing about the community here would be that there isnt much for the teen group to do unless they are outdoorsy types.
